Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion will be broadcast 7pm Christmas Day! And in another scoop the festive issue of Radio Times will also feature Doctor Who. Traditionally the Radio times does not dedicate it's Christmas cover to a single show, but hey, it's Doctor Who

Well the place to check out Doctor Who news is Outpost Galifrey, but here's a couple of rumours;
Apparently, medium Derek Acorah and footballer David Beckham are both to make cameo appearances in the next series of Doctor Who. Erm... okay? What was that Sam?

Da-lek Bread! ;D Have you heard that Peter Kay has been cast as the villain in Episode 10. It's reported on the BBC website, but he will be playing the role straight, so no "Dink dang Who!"

The BBC have confirmed that Billie Piper will be joining David Tennant in the TARDIS for the third (or 29th, depending how you look at it) series of Doctor Who.
But who will be the villains for that series? I'm betting on either Sontarans or The Master.

New EarthOn first watching New Earth I thought it was just average, but on second viewing I did enjoy it much more. Billie Piper was again the star, especially with her portrayal of Cassandra. Being a fan of Zoe Wanamaker I was fine with the last humans return. And I love the mystery that has been built up around the Face of Bo after only a few fleeting scenes. There were things to criticise, the fast pace of the plot did mean things like healing EVERYONE was a bit over the top. But this was a bit over the top. Doctor Who has always leaned towards the fantasy rather than science fiction though. Watch any old episode and just listen to the technobabble (it's nearly as bad as Tacion pulses in Star Trek). It's a fun romp and still very enjoyable. The Doctor is back, and has still got it! So overall, still only a 6/10, but I am being reserved because I'm sure there is better to come. I'm still very much looking forward to the rest of the episodes, the next two in particular - werewolf, then Sarah-Jane & K-9

Tooth and ClawBrilliant! Fantastic! awesome! From the start the direction was superb and the atmosphere dark and foreboding. Kung-Fu fighting "monkey-monk-Monks", Queen Victoria, Were-Wolf and Torchwood. In Tooth and Claw David Tennant had much in common with Tom Baker. The story was played straight while The Doctor was there for laughs, not over the top, but just right. And to save the day of course. This dark episode surely had the kids back behind the sofa or in the bosoms of their mothers. Oh it's wonderful to be a Doctor Who fan. The years of ridicule, then this, Fantastic! The plot was fairly solid, although I do wonder where the monks went at the end. And the CGI on the were-wolf itself, especially the transformation, was excellent. Dark, gritty, funny. 10/10 And to make things even better Tooth and Claws ratings went up from New Earth to around nine Million viewers. The most watched non-soap of the week! 1) Coronation Street - 10.8 (Mon 7.30pm) 2) Coronation Street - 10.6 (Mon 8.30pm) 3) EastEnders - 10.3 (Tues) 4) EastEnders - 10.1 (Mon) 5) Coronation Street - 9.8 (Wed) 6) Coronation Street - 9.4 (Fri) 7) Coronation Street - 9.3 (Sun) 8) EastEnders - 9.2 (Fri) 9=) EastEnders - 8.9 (Thurs) 9=) Doctor Who - 8.9 (Sat) 11) Heartbeat - 8.8 (Sun) 12) Emmerdale - 7.9 (Wed) 13) Emmerdale - 7.8 (Mon) 14=) Emmerdale - 7.5 (Tues) 14=) Emmerdale - 7.5 (Thurs) 16) New Tricks - 7.2 (Mon) 17=) Emmerdale - 7.1 (Fri) 17=) Sharpe's Challenge - 7.1 (Sun) 19) Emmerdale - 6.7 (Sun) 20) Match of the Day Live - 6.6 (Sat)

School ReunionHow could I ever doubt that this episode might be a let down. Well, okay, I didn't, and quite rightly so. Sarah-Jane Smith and K-9 make their more than welcome return to this cracking new series. The plot was solid, but really was background for the Doctors reunion with his old companions, something rarely touched on in Doctor Who. Liz Sladen was better than she's ever been. Her expression when she finds the TARDIS, then turns around and regeneration or not knows he is the Doctor. Her jealously towards Rose, and vice versa, is well played, as is her emotional scene where she shows that she was angry at the Doctor for just dumping her back on Earth. Then K-9. The fact that he's only used sparingly is probably more for the best. And his lasers are more effective this time round. K-9 might not have been everyones favourite but I love him, and it's great to see him in the thick of the action again. Oh yes, the plot. Krillitains was it? Anthony Head was wonderful, right down to the, "Get the ... shooty ... doggie thing." Still think it's a bit of a shame that they didn't hold off casting Anthony Head for the role of The Master, if he ever returns. I think David & Billie were in there too at some point. The new Doctor is again showing signs of the darkness that burns within. Tennant more and more reminds me of Tom Baker. The Darkness, erratic manic behavior and moral justice. He gets better by the week, and Billie is almost relegated to a background character in this episode. Overall... 10/10

Rise of the CybermenDoctor Who has been on a high the last few weeks, and alas that had to end sometime. And with all the hype of the Cybermens return it was always going to be this episode. But it's not a bad episode, far from it. As the first part of a two-part story the pace has been drastically slowed down. The Doctor and Rose and not threatened at all until the cliff-hanger, which is probably one of the episodes let downs. Roger Lloyd-Pack is excellent as the evil Lumic, and Noel Clarke plays both versions of Micky/Ricky very well, the same but different. The Cybermen. Don't they look good! Gone are the useless tin men of the 80's, revitalised more like the menacing Cybermen od the 60's. I like them. 7/10 "You will be like us!"

Age of SteelAnother quality episode of Doctor Who. You know Doctor Who, that dodgy old British series with wobbly sets and wobbly acting? The guy with the teeth & scarf? Not anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of classic Who, but the New Who is just so damn good! No these are not the gold allergy "Excellent!" stating Cybermen of old. These are new. These are great! Doctor Who has been so re-vitalised by RTD. Age of Steel was a well plotted, well acted, well directed, lighted, well everything! And it complimented the frist part so well. In fact I feel that the first episode is better when viewed with the second. I love being a Doctor Who fan. 8/10

Idiots Lantern, excellent. Reading posts over on Outpost Galifrey it seems a lot of old school fans didn't like it. But I certainly did. To me this was your classic Doctor Who story. Doctor & companion, on Earth, historical setting, unique monster, drama & humour. The acting from the guest cast was probably the best this season, truely superb. And Euros Lyn is just a brilliant director.
Okay, it's still not my favourite of the season, I just loved Tooth & Claw and School Reunion, but Idiots Lantern was great.
Overall 9/10

The Impossible PlanetVery good. A solid sci-fi romp, something long over-due in the new Who. If you think about it, it is very similar to Pyramids of MArs, but that can be no bad thing really. Looking forward to part 2. Overall 7/10
